School Governance Council

The Norwalk Board of Education has approved a policy in the Spring of 2016 to establish School Governance Councils at all schools in the Norwalk Public Schools district.  School Governance Councils will be the primary, local school decision-making body of a school, and will be devoted to achieving its mission and vision. SGCs will focus on the analysis of student achievement, the development of improvement plans, the allocation of resources, and programmatic and operational changes which enhance the quality of the school and the achievement of its students. Members will include parents and guardians, teachers at the school, community leaders, and the school principal.

Wolfpit SGC will  consist of parents or guardians who are not administrators or teachers employed by the Norwalk Public Schools.  It will include one parent per grade level, and represent a wide variety of perspectives.  They are to be elected by the parents or guardians of students attending the school.  Each household with a student attending the school will have one vote.  The terms will be staggered so that the entire Council is not replaced yearly.  Requirements include attendance at monthly meetings from September through June.
