Summer Math
Keep Those Math Muscles Moving This Summer!
Take on the Commissioner’s Summer Math Challenge! It’s a fun, statewide program that adds a little extra excitement to summer learning. Just like with reading, math skills can slip a bit over the summer if they’re not used regularly. A little practice goes a long way and helps your child stay sharp and confident in their math thinking. The challenge is full of meaningful, real world activities. Think of it as building math into every day life!
📝 Be sure to return your completed materials on the first day of school! We’ll be celebrating and rewarding students who complete the challenge!
⬅️ Use the navigation bar to find the links and instructions for your child’s incoming grade level. Grades 3-5 have two options for the challenge. They can choose one or they can do both!
Why Focus on Math Facts?
Knowing math facts, such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, quickly and accurately is a huge part of becoming a strong math thinker. When students have fluency with these basics, they can focus more easily on solving bigger problems without getting stuck. It builds confidence, lowers frustration, and makes all other areas of math more accessible. We’ve included a fun practice site where your child can build fluency with just a few minutes of play each day. It’s simple, effective, and engaging!
⬅️ Use the navigation bar for daily fluency games and practice ideas based on your child’s grade level. We've also included a list of recommended math websites, games, and activities to keep your child engaged all summer long.
Up for an extra challenge?
Take part in the Greg Tang summer challenge! Simple navigate over to the "Extra Summer Fun with Greg Tang" and print out your child's game board. If they complete a level, try a harder one! Bring in your completed game board at the beginning of the school year to earn a certificate!
Let’s team up to stop the summer slide and help every student start the school year strong!
